Lee Owen Stone (LOS) holds an open house every year in late winter or early spring for prospective families and applications are due shortly after the open house date. The school holds a lottery drawing within two weeks of the deadline to fill open spaces. Applicant families will be notified afterward and told whether they have a spot or what number they are on the waiting list. After the lottery is held, applications will still be accepted, but applicants will automatically be put at the end of the waiting list.
When filling the school roster, priority is given first to returning families, then to alumni, including siblings of past students and children of past students, and remaining spaces will be filled during the lottery drawing.
During the school year, if a space becomes available, the first family on the waiting list will be notified. After winter break, it is up to the teacher as to whether any new students will be added if there is an opening. LOSApplication (download here) Please note - In order to attend LOS, children must be three years old by September 1 and they must be potty trained. Open House Info The 2008-09 Open House was held on Saturday, February 23, 2008. The LOS lottery was held on March 3rd, 2008. Applicants were notified later that week if they have been accepted or their position on the waiting list. Visitation Policy Families who wish to visit the school prior to the open house and lottery can make an appointment to view the classroom after school hours. These visits are available from 12-12:30 pm, when the teacher and parents helpers are available for questions. After a student is accepted, families who wish to observe the classroom during school hours can set up an appointment with the Membership Coordinator. We do not offer visitation during school hours prior to acceptance in order to minimize classroom disruption for the children and teacher.
